“Come, let us sing to the Lord and shout with joy to the Rock who saves us. Let us approach Him with Praise and Thanksgiving and sing joyful songs to the Lord.”
Psalm 95.
As I prayed this psalm during the Morning Prayer in the Divine Office, it struck me in a particular way how we are to ‘sing’ and ‘shout’ with ‘joy’. How we are to ‘approach Him with praise and Thanksgiving”.
When do you approach Him?
- At Holy Mass
- Private personal prayer
- Adoration
- In times of need
- Thankful heart for blessings received
- Thankful for dangers avoided
- When we are stuck in a situation etc
I don’t know about you, but when I face a difficult situation, it isn’t quite so easy to “sing and shout with joy”! But if we focus on the problem, we cannot see the solution! And our best solution is the Lord!
In today’s responsorial Psalm, we hear a similar message:
The Lord is near to all who call upon him.
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD and highly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable. (psalm 145)
Love is a decision. I will decide to love. Love God despite my spiritual dryness, my life as it is. Love a difficult person. I can decide to Bless and Praise God’s name despite my situations. When I do that with sincerity in my heart, all the events around me will change, because love changes everything.
Jesus loved us with His life, it changed ours.
Mary loved God with her life, and she was given the grace to say ‘yes’ to uncertainty.
How will you choose to approach God today my friends? How will you say 'yes' today?
